No Crisis in Camping tourism!
Friday, 14 May 2010

Crisis, wheather it's virtual or real, was not present in camping tourism in the last season, mostly because of the rising trend in seeking for a holiday in untouched nature.

Example is "Dunav" (Danube), small campngsite on Danube river bank close to Belgrade which had one very nice season last year.
From May 1st till September 30th there was 3.262 overnights (guests from abroad), mostly in motorhomes. Majority of campers came from Netherlands, Poland, Germany, France. There are also campers from Slovenia, Italy and Belgium.

This season, there will be for the first time, organized camping caravans. They will come in different organizations and arrangements such as:

  • ACSI "Balkan"
  • Perestroika Tours
  • NKC - Netherlands Kamper Club
  • ANWB Caravantours
  • VKT Belgija
  • Senioren kampeer Club
  • Orcada-Voyages, France
  • Top deck...

Beside this camping site, there are also several camping sites interesting for camping tour operators such as "Toma" near Golubac and new one "Vitasi" ("Sharganska osmica").

We hope that arrival of the international camping tour operators will change the overall image of Serbian camping tourism and that it will have a positive influence on other camping sites to raise the quality of its services on all levels.

CAS on the DANUBE TOURIST COMMISSION
Tuesday, 20 January 2009
Camping Association of Serbia presented a new brochure with the camping potential in the Danube region on the Danube Tourist Commission held in Belgrade, 2nd – 6th December in Hotel “Continental”. This was the first manifestation where Camping Association of Serbia presented the camping potential of the Danube region, with the great interest of the participants of the Danube Tourist Commission, considering the fact that the camping capacities along the Danube flow through Serbia have been neglected up till now. We truly believe that the initiative of the Camping Association of Serbia  will be fruitful and that it will result in building new campsites along the Danube.

Project completed
Tuesday, 20 January 2009
Project “CAMPING TOURISM – Guideline for the Sustainable Development of NP Fruška Gora” was successfully completed in October 2008. Pointing out to the necessity of protecting the environment on Fruška gora and the development of camping was fruitful. A cooperation was established between Balkan Youth Union (BYU), Camping Association of Serbia, Public Company “NP Fruška gora”, Institute for Nature Conservaion of Serbia, and many municipalities of Fruška Gora (Beočin, Sremski Karlovci, Inđija and Sremska Mitrovica). With this project some elementary ecological problems within the National Park have been defined as well as ways of solving them. Also, potential camping locations have been determined in the given municipalities. Detailed presentations of the results of the project and the representation of the plans for the succeeding period have been realized through seminars in the municipalities of Beočin, Sremski Karlovci, Inđija and Sremska Mitrovica. The citizens have become acquainted with the Balkan Yout Union and Camping Association initiative as well as with the idea of developing camping tourism.
Project “CAMPING TOURISM – Guideline for the Sustainable Development of NP Fruška Gora” is only the beginning of the intitiative of developing camping tourism on Fruška Gora and will continue through many other activities in the succeeding period.

A Survey Involving the Habits of the Domestic Camping Tourists
Tuesday, 20 January 2009
On the International fair of tourism, held at the beginning of 2008 in Belgrade, we started a survey amongst our citizens to get a clear picture about the active camping tourists in our country. After the data have been processed, based on 50 subjects, we reached the following conclusions:
- our citizens mainly travel with their friends or their family
- they get the information concerning campsites mainly through their friends or they get informed via internet
- for our camping tourists the most attractive countries in our region are ex-Yugoslavian countries, then Greece, Bulgaria, Italy…
- the mode of transport mostly used is certainly a car, but those who don’t own it decide to take the bus, a bicycle or a train
- the most common mode of lodging in campsites are tents and trailors for most of the subjects
- when talking about the duration of staying in one of the campsites, our tourists usually make 10 or more over-night stays, and rare are the ones that only stay one night
- some camping tourists choose to prepare their food on their own, and some use the services of the local restaurant or the one within the campsite facility
- two most common services camping tourists decide on when spending time in campsites are buying food and going on fieldtrips

Which one is your Fruška gora?
Tuesday, 20 January 2009
Fruska Gora

Within the project “CAMPING TOURISM – Guideline for the Sustainable Development of NP Fruška gora” a mini-campaign has been initiated with the goal of pointing out to the necessity of protecting the environment on Fruška gora. A poster with the inscription “Which is your Fruška gora?” will be distributed to all municipalities of Fruška gora so that the idea of protecting the environment would reach local population which, to a certain degree, has a negative impact on the National Park.  Other than posters, a brochure was made which systematized all the ecological problems in relation to NP Fruška gora and provided ways of solving them. Also, with this brochure some contemporary tendencies were presented regarding adjusting economic development to  protecting the environment in the protected nature reserves. One of the ways is certainly the development of the sustainable modes of tourism, with one very important mode - camping tourism.
An illustration of the potential camping locations was given in the brochure in the municipalities of Beočin, Sremski Karlovci and inđija with the most realistic chances to be realized.
