On the International fair of tourism, held at the beginning of 2008 in Belgrade, we started a survey amongst our citizens to get a clear picture about the active camping tourists in our country. After the data have been processed, based on 50 subjects, we reached the following conclusions: - our citizens mainly travel with their friends or their family - they get the information concerning campsites mainly through their friends or they get informed via internet - for our camping tourists the most attractive countries in our region are ex-Yugoslavian countries, then Greece, Bulgaria, Italy… - the mode of transport mostly used is certainly a car, but those who don’t own it decide to take the bus, a bicycle or a train - the most common mode of lodging in campsites are tents and trailors for most of the subjects - when talking about the duration of staying in one of the campsites, our tourists usually make 10 or more over-night stays, and rare are the ones that only stay one night - some camping tourists choose to prepare their food on their own, and some use the services of the local restaurant or the one within the campsite facility - two most common services camping tourists decide on when spending time in campsites are buying food and going on fieldtrips
The goal of this research was to form a clear and realistic picture about active camping tourists in our country and find out on which locations it would be best to open new campsites according to their opinion. This opinion varies when it comes to choice of the locations, but most of them concur that new campsites should be placed next to the rivers, lakes, mountains or in places with important festivals. Some of the locations suggested were: the Danube, the Lake of Vlasina, Fruška gora and Tara. Also, we wanted to find out what contents our camping tourists would like to find within our campsites. As necessary contents we enlist sport courts, swimming pools, then the possibility of renting sports equipment and well organized social life in a campsite, which implies animating the tourists during their stay. This was the first survey of this kind, and it has helped us direct the activities of the Camping Association of Serbia according to the needs of the domestic camping tourists. |
